Building One of Iran's First Open Banking Platforms

Context

Finnotech was a leader in Iran's early Open Banking ecosystem. As Senior Technical Manager, I directed the technical, support, and operations teams building one of the platform's first Open Banking solutions, developed for Ayandeh Bank (Future Bank).

Business Challenge

Open Banking was new territory in Iran at this point. The challenge wasn't just building a working integration — it was establishing a solution reliable and well-documented enough that other FinTech companies could integrate directly with it.

Mahdi's Role

I directed the technical, support, and operations teams end to end, working closely with Ayandeh Bank and partner FinTech companies to design, produce, and manage the Open Banking solution.

Technical Constraints

• As one of the first solutions of its kind in the market, there was limited local precedent to build on.
• The solution needed to support direct integration from multiple external FinTech companies, not just serve as an internal tool.
• Legacy code in the surrounding platform needed modernization alongside new feature work.

Approach

Web dashboards were built in React, with Node.js and an ORM layer handling data across SQL and NoSQL stores. I introduced unit testing for automation and reliability, and worked with the engineering team to size system load and plan improvements as adoption grew.
